My background as a paralegal / legal assistant, combined with my work with a multimedia start-up provides experience in both a supervisory position, as well as a team environment. I can see the big picture in addition to the current snapshot, and work toward both goals. It’s about strategy, creativity, and thinking outside the box when necessary to get the job done.
Success in any task – from research and development to implementation – is what defines my approach. The goal is understanding the complexity of the project and those involved with it, and breaking it down to tangible tasks and milestones.

As a start-up multimedia company, I assisted with business set-up and operations for the company and have assisted with everything from tracking and managing payroll for employees and contractors, to sales and marketing, to videography, website development, and social media implementation. With the exception of high-end video editing, there is not much that I have not done with the company.

My primary duties were to provide clerical assistance to three (3) attorneys, one of whom was the President of the company, the second the Managing Partner of the regional office, and the third licensed in both West Virginia and Pennsylvania and actively involved in client development activities. Specific job duties included training new employees, transcription, preparation of workers’ compensation forms, filing forms with the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, processing incoming and outgoing mail, and speaking with clients, judges, and attorneys as necessary.
My responsibilities sometimes included preparation of charts and forms, booking flights, hotels, rental cars, and dinner reservations. I also coordinated calendars and prepared itineraries.
In the event that other staff members were out of the office, either scheduled or unexpectedly, I also filled in various roles such as answering the main telephone lines when the receptionist was out, and managing attorney schedules for the entire department for hearings, depositions, and mediations when the scheduling secretary was out.

As a paralegal my duties primarily involved research and preparation of legal documents for the four (4) attorneys on staff at the time. This would include preparation of Civil Writs of Summons, Civil Complaints, discovery requests and responses, and Pretrial Statements. With attorneys licensed in both Pennsylvania and West Virginia, I was responsible for preparation of documents for both states, in addition to various courts within Pennsylvania, including County Courts, State Courts, and Federal Courts.
In addition to these tasks, I also oversaw filing and service of all new litigation to ensure that suit was timely filed within the Statute of Limitations, and that proper service was effectuated upon the Defendants. I was also responsible for scheduling meetings with clients as appropriate, and scheduling depositions of Defendants and witnesses. For depositions occurring outside of Western Pennsylvania, I would also coordinate travel arrangements as appropriate for the responsible attorney.
In the event that other staff members were out of the office, I would assist with dictation, preparing and filing documents with the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, and answering telephones.
